Fortem Technologies Welcomes NDAA Provisions Expanding Counter-UAS Authorities
LINDON, UT - December 10, 2025 --
Fortem Technologies today issued the following statement in response to the inclusion of expanded counter-UAS authorities for trained state and local agencies in the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
The inclusion of expanded counter-UAS authorities in the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a crucial milestone for America’s airspace security.
The threat landscape has evolved faster than the frameworks designed to protect our communities, infrastructure, and critical assets. Small unmanned aircraft have become accessible, inexpensive, and disproportionately capable — a reality demonstrated in conflicts abroad and increasingly visible here at home.
For years, Fortem Technologies has worked alongside federal agencies, policymakers, and public-safety leaders to help close this gap. The NDAA’s updated authorities represent meaningful progress toward a modern, coordinated approach to protecting the low-altitude airspace.
We are encouraged by Congress’s recognition that trained, authorized state and local partners must have clearer pathways to act when confronted with a confirmed rogue or hostile drone. Effective defense requires both the right technology and the legal ability to use it.
As this framework moves toward implementation, Fortem remains committed to:
- Supporting responsible adoption of approved counter-UAS capabilities
- Ensuring civil-liberties protections and compliance remain central
- Providing field-validated systems proven in demanding operational environments
- Partnering across government and industry to strengthen resilience nationwide
The NDAA counter-UAS framework reflects a growing national consensus: defending our domestic airspace is a shared responsibility. Fortem is proud to contribute its experience, technology, and partnership to this next chapter in U.S. airspace security.
