Fortem Technologies’ SkyDome Solution Featured at Recent NATO Event
The Fortem team performed a demo of their SkyDome Solution to eight NATO countries at the NATO Counter UAS Event in Sardinia
SARDINIA, ITALY - August 23, 2022 --
This past March in Sardinia, Italy, the Fortem Technologies team performed demonstrations of their SkyDome System to eight NATO countries, securing budgets and further strategic discussions with many in attendance.
Given the rising threat of drone attacks on cities, the Fortem team demonstrated how to detect and defend against dangerous drones, especially around government buildings, military bases and other higher risk areas. To do so, an enemy drone was flown at high speeds over the field in front of the audience. Fortem’s system detected it and accurately cued the DroneHunter that autonomously defeated the rogue drone, safely towing it away before the crowd even realized what happened.
Members of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense were trained on the system ahead of the exercise, handling the equipment for the hundreds of VIPs from across NATO countries without any Fortem personnel assisting. Not only did the demonstration prove how accurate Fortem’s technology is but also showcased how easy it is to use, allowing operators to quickly be trained to effectively defeat Group I and II drones at safe stand off distances.
Counter drone capability is especially important in light of the Ukrainian conflict and the increased use of drone attacks on cities, civilians and in military operations.
“The events surrounding Ukraine are bringing added focus to the dire and very real threat of dangerous drones,” said Fortem CEO Timothy Bean. “Our solution has never been more necessary.”
Currently, Fortem Technologies is deployed in the U.S., the Middle East, Asia and, most recently, Ukraine. Additionally, Toshiba recently chose Fortem as their counter-drone partner worldwide.
