Safe BVLOS Ops for Drone Package Delivery
The FAA and NASA are collaborating on safety issues and requirements for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations. These requirements are a critical step to enabling mass adoption of drone package delivery. Drone delivery services can represent almost anything that weighs under 5 pounds including prescriptions, pizza, groceries, milk and even hardware. These drone-enabled services must be able to see what is immediately in front of them, as well as what is beyond the horizon in order to detect and avoid other drones, in what will increasingly become crowded airspace.
In an effort to accelerate drone delivery programs, Fortem is participating in the new Unmanned Aircraft System Integration Pilot Program (UASIPP), a recent initiative from President Trump. The UASIPP will fast-track regulatory requirements needed for safe and secure package delivery across the country.
Fortem’s TrueView radar is a military-proven, compact radar system for safe package delivery, and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) applications. The system includes AI-enabled smart vision software that gives a clear view of the airspace in nearly any operating environment. And with autonomous capabilities, TrueView-enabled drones can quickly and automatically maneuver in and around obstacles whether in the sky or on the ground.
