Fortem Technologies Announced as Finalist for Two AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards

Fortem DroneHunter and TrueView Radar selected in highly competitive categories: Counter UAS & Security and Detect & Avoid

Press Release | April 6, 2018

ARLINGTON, Va.

Fortem Technologies, Inc., an innovator in airspace awareness and intelligence, has been named as a finalist in two categories, Counter UAS & Security and Detect & Avoid, of the XCELLENCE Awards by the Association for Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI). Fortem Technologies was selected from a pool of accomplished applicants as one of several finalists. Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at AUVSI XPONENTIAL on Tuesday, May 1 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Fortem Technologies provides the world’s most compact, high-performance radar system for detecting airborne objects, a revolutionary safety capability for unmanned and manned aircraft. The Fortem TrueView radar system is small enough to be deployed on an aircraft to allow customers to build intrinsically safe air taxis and helicopters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles that can operate autonomously beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). TrueView radar can simultaneously track thousands of objects - each smaller than a soda can, traveling at high velocity, across a 360-degree field of view. The Fortem DroneHunter™ is a fully autonomous BVLOS hunter drone, guided by the long range onboard TrueView radar system - fused with other sensors - to safely remove any drone from a no fly zone without risk to civilians.

“The unmanned systems industry is innovating at an incredible rate and creating tremendous benefits for our economy, lifestyle and society,” said Brian Wynne, president and CEO of AUVSI. “The AUVSI XCELLENCE awards give us a chance to recognize the companies and individuals who are propelling the industry into the future.”

“Our number one priority is to keep airspaces safe and secure by developing autonomous, radar-driven solutions that identify and remove UAV-related threats,” said Fortem Technologies CEO Tim Bean. “We are thrilled to be named a finalist in not just one, but two categories for AUVSI’s XCELLENCE Awards during the event’s inaugural year.”

XPONENTIAL offers a broad-based and balanced educational program brimming with cutting-edge content and inspirational insights, ranging from policy implications and technical challenges to use cases and best practices across vertical markets and everything in between. The AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards honor innovators in the unmanned systems industry, including individuals and organizations, with a demonstrated commitment to advancing technology, leading and promoting safe operations, and developing programs that use unmanned systems to improve the human condition.
